Responsible Gaming
Gambling Should Be Entertainment, Not Income
At Adventure Girl Aotearoa, we believe betting should be enjoyed as a form of entertainment only. Gambling is never a reliable way to earn money or solve financial problems. Please gamble responsibly and only with money you can afford to lose.
Age Verification
All gambling in New Zealand is strictly for adults aged 18 years and over. It is illegal for anyone under 18 to participate in gambling activities. If you are under the legal age, please do not use betting sites. If you are aware of underage gambling, please report it to the appropriate authorities.
Warning Signs of Problem Gambling
Problem gambling can develop gradually. Check if you recognise any of these warning signs:
- Chasing losses by gambling more to recover money you've lost
- Hiding your gambling from family, friends, or partners
- Gambling with money needed for essentials (rent, bills, food)
- Spending more time and money on gambling than planned
- Feeling anxious, irritable, or stressed when not gambling
- Neglecting work, study, or relationships due to gambling
- Borrowing money or going into debt to fund gambling
- Being unable to stop or cut down on gambling despite trying
- Gambling to escape problems, stress, or negative emotions
- Lying about the amount of time or money spent gambling
If you recognise any of these signs in your own behaviour, please seek help immediately.
Self-Help Tools
Most responsible gambling platforms offer built-in tools to help you manage your gambling:
- Deposit Limits: Set a maximum amount you can deposit within a specific timeframe (daily, weekly, or monthly)
- Loss Limits: Set a maximum amount you're willing to lose in a given period
- Reality Checks: Receive regular notifications reminding you how long you've been gambling and how much you've wagered
- Time-Out (Cool-Off Period): Take a temporary break from gambling for a set period (hours, days, or weeks)
- Self-Exclusion: Voluntarily exclude yourself from gambling sites for a longer period (typically 6 months to several years)
We encourage you to use these tools if you feel your gambling is becoming problematic.
